Gaynell Joy Ford

Gaynell Joy Ford, 88, died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham, Kansas. She was born September 02, 1919 in Cherokee, Oklahoma the daughter of John and Ora "Toots" (Traverse) Smith. A resident of Medicine Lodge since 1953, coming from Oklahoma, most recently living at Hilltop Manor, she was owner/operator and tailor of Joy's Dress Shop, and was a bookkeeper for Dr. Strack and Dr. Hillard.

She worked at Boeing Aircraft during WWII. She was a member of First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge. On Dec. 25, 1938 she married Wayne A. Ford, he died Jan. 16, 2003.

She is survived by a son Johnny Ford of Springhill, KS, and a daughter Pamela Jill Goldsmith of Abilene, KS. a brother, Phillip Smith, Claremore, OK, two sisters JoAnne Gibson, Houston, TX; Cynda Thomas, Lancaster, CA: 4 Grandchildren, and 10 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday Feb. 18, 2008 at Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, Pastor Tom Walters will be officiating.

Memorials may be sent to Alzheimer's Association in care of Larrison Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge.
