Howard Albert Thomas

Howard Albert Thomas, 84, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Attica, Kansas. He was born April 27, 1922 at Sharon, Kansas, the son of Al and Ina (Rucker) Thomas. A lifetime resident of Sharon, he was a farmer/stockman. He graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1939. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the 45th division during WWII earning a Purple Heart and a Silver Star.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, and was a lifetime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Medicine Lodge.

On July 17, 1939 he married Ruth Howard at Medicine Lodge. She survives.

Others survivors include a son Tom Thomas, Medicine Lodge, daughter Kay Lynn Smith, a son-in-law Garland Smith, both of Dodge City, Kansas; two brothers Dale Thomas, Topeka, Kansas and Glenn Thomas, Broomfield, Colorado; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son John Howard Thomas; two brothers Ralph Thomas and Ellis Thomas; and 3 sisters Lena Neal, Edna Shuman, and Faye Thomas.

Funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 6 at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge with Pastor Tom Walters officiating.

Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge with military honors provided by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
