Lawrence A. "Al" Thomas Jr.

Lawrence A. "Al" Thomas Jr., age 79, Medicine Lodge, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge.

He was born May 29, 1928 at St. Paul, KS the son of the late Lawrence Alva and Theresa (Scharfen) Thomas Sr. A Longtime resident of Medicine Lodge, he was a Well Tender for City Service Gas Company. He was of the Catholic Faith. He was a US Army Veteran Serving from 1951-1953. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. On Oct. 24, 1953 he married Mary Knox at Parsons, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include a son Lawrence A. Thomas III, Pratt; a daughter Sandra Roberts, Medicine Lodge, a brother Mike Thomas, Dodge City, and two sisters Patricia Moore, Kemah, TX and Betty Richards, Logan, UT; 3 Granddaughters and a Great Grandson. He was preceded in death by a sister Rosemary Rose.

Visitation was Sunday from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS. The funeral was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Medicine Lodge with Pastor Matt Wilkerson officiating.

Burial was at Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge with military honors provided by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
