Mildred Marie Edwards

Mildred Marie Edwards, 79, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Hilltop Manor, Cunningham. She was born May 5, 1926 at Waring, GA, the daughter of Alexander and Lucinda (Snow) Ledford. A longtime resident of Lake City and Medicine Lodge and most recently moved to Hilltop Manor, Cunningham. She worked growing up in Textile Mills and Chenille Factories.

On October 3, 1958, she married Frank Edwards at Dalton, GA, he died May 17, 1989.

In 1963 she, Sherry and Frank moved to Lake City. Sherry left the home in 1974 to marry Craig and Frank and Mildred moved to Medicine Lodge in 1977.

In 1999 Mildred was diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimers, she continued to live at home until her family could no longer care for her. The love of her life was her granddaughter, Ashley. She attended any and everything Ashley participated in as long as she could. Mildred was always friendly and had a friendly smile. She would call anyone she met "honey" and "sweetie", even if she didn’t recognize them at the end. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by one daughter: Sherry Prothe and her husband Craig, Medicine Lodge, KS; and her only granddaughter Ashley Prothe, Topeka, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, and 9 brothers and sisters.

Private graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, with Pastor Dennis Fangmeyer officiating. The family requests no flowers, or memorial contributions, but would like to thank everyone for all they did for her during her life.

Larrison Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, is in charge of arrangements.
