Mrs. Nancy Garten Dead.
Mrs Nancy Garten, known as Grandma Garten, and loved by countless friends, died at the home of her graddaughter, Mrs. George Smith, near Forest city, Sunday, September 5, from cardiac dropsy. She was born in Kentucky August 6th, 1834 and was 81 years and 30 days of age when she passed away. She was married in the year 1885 to Charles Garten and removed to Kansas in 1874. She was the mother of ten children, six of whom, with the husband, preceded her in death. She has lived in a consistant christianlife and was a kind, patient, motherly oldlady, loved dearly by all whoknew her. She passed away peacefully and willing, knowing that she was soon to inherit her heavenly reward. Her maiden name was Nancy Ellen Pendleton. The surviving children are Charles Garten of Medicine Lodge, Kansas and Henderson Garten of Lindsay, Oklahoma. Twenty-nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive her.

The world is better for her having lived in it and the beautiful example of Christian womanhood which this grand old lady has left behind will be an everlasting and cherished ehritage fr the loved ones whomourn her departure. The funeral services were held at the Forest City Church onMonday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Charles A. Murray, Pastor of the Christian church of this city. The body was interred in the Garten private burial ground near Forest.

To the sorrowing children and relatives of the deceased is extended the deepest sympathy of the entire community.
