Robert G. "Bob" Kumberg

Robert G. "Bob" Kumberg, 86 died Dec. 8, 2007 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge. He was born Oct. 15, 1921 on the family farm near Sawyer, Kansas, the son of Gust and Sadie (Kincaid) Kumberg.

A lifetime resident of Barber County, he was a rancher and a farmer in Barber County after his service in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He served as an airplane repair crew chief in North Africa and Fogia, Italy with the 319th Depot Repair Squadron. Bob loved to tease and joke, worked as hard as he could, and was passionate about caring for his cattle along side his wife Darlene, his children, grandchildren and many creatures of nature (except beavers). He was a 60 year member of the American Legion Post, Isabel, VFW, Pratt and was a supporter of the Pratt County Fair.

On Jan. 20, 1951 he married Darlene Sleeper at Medicine Lodge, she survives.

Other survivors include a son Mark and wife Linda Kumberg, Pratt; two daughters Connie and husband Jack McCammond, Woodruff, South Carolina; Patricia and Randall Samms, Wichita; a sister Beatrice Kumberg, Wichita; Grandchildren, Brianna LeBret, Talia Alley, Wesley and Spenser Samms, Stacey, Kirsten and Cole Kumberg, and Great Grandchildren,, Kevin, Isaac, Zachariah, Kenzer, Nekai, Elias, and Cadia LeBret, and Bryce Alley, and many nephews, nieces, neighbors and friends.

Private Family Services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.

Memorials may be sent to the Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital or Donor’s Choice in care of Larrison Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge.
