Welcome to Sharon Kansas    
The Reverend A.H. Mulkey came to Medicine Lodge in March, 1879, representing a Christian Colony of over fifty families. "The colony is composed of members of the Christian Church and will arrive here in the early part of the season to decide on a permanent location." Then on April 10, 1879, the Medicine Lodge Cresset carried the following story: "THE NEW COLONY....At a joint meeting of the citizens of Medicine Lodge and members of the Disciple colony...the following resolutions were offered and adopted: Resolved: That we the people of Medicine Lodge and vicinity hereby tender our heartfelt thanks to B. A.H.Mulkey for the untiring energy and zeal he has shown in inviting and securing settlement inour county, and that we also congratulate him on his success and welcome those whom he has brought among us, and we furthur promis him our heaby support in the future. Resolved: That after careful examination of the locality selected for the colony, we found it fully equal to our expectations and that confidence we have reposed in Bro. Mulkey has been fully justified. The locaton of the colony was present day Sharon. (Barber County Kansas - Chosen Land)
