Topic: Hare(Cameron,Wallace,Smith) Families of Ft. Scott, Pleasanton
From: Jennifer Harried11@aol.com
Date: Friday, April 16, 1999 04:21 PM

I am looking for information on the Hare, Smith and Cameron families that settled in and around Ft. Scott and Pleasanton.

Joseph P(rudhomme) Hare and Elizabeth Partridge. They settled in Dry Creek (Bourbon County?) in 1866. They came from Bowling Green KY.

A son, Arthur G(erna) Hare, my grandfather, married Janet Cameron, whose father (well, actually her grandfather) was William Wallace Cameron, who died in Ft. Scott on July 20, 1936. His wife was Agnes Campbell Smith, who died May 14, 1930 in Ft. Scott. They were married in Scotland and appear to have brought Agnes' mother, Agnes Campbell, with them, as she died in Pleasanton on Dec. 12, 1904.

Arthur and Janet's children are/were:
Arthur Alexander (deceased)
(Beulah) Agnes
Dorothy (deceased)
George
Virgil Howard (my father)

Any information would be greatl

Hello Bourbon County,
I have just found a reference that lists Susan CRIMM on the Federal Census of 1870 living in Bourbon County Kansas. I believe she might be my great-grandmother. Can someone help me out with checking the local records in Bourbon County to see if anything has her parent's names or her place of birth?

I know she moved to Montgomery County because she shows up there on some records in 1885 when she married my great-grandfather, Lebbeus (or Libeus) Clark TAYLOR. I am hoping someone can head me in the right direction to find out some more information on this elusive couple.

Elaine. If you come up with any LANE information in the bourbon county area, please let me know. My John Daniel Barelow LANE died in 1890 near Carter's Mill somewhere in the vicinity of Uniontown, Kansas. He was married to Elizabeth Suphronia KIRBY, daughter of Kearney Cotton KIRBY and Keziah POE of Uniontown. Elizabeth died in 1893 and their daughters Ora (my ggrandmother) and Ota LANE were placed in the Old Soldier's Home in Atchison, Kansas. John DB Lane was in the Missouri Volunteer Militia and served from 1862 to 1865. I have his roll call papers. I have nothing on his parents and I only suspect he was born in Illinois. Good Luck.
