April 17, 1902 (Thursday)

Sunday morning the Mo. Pacific agent E. Nance received a telegram from Redfield stating that a boy was working on a farm near that place, answering the description of Fred Leak, who so mysteriously disappeared from his home, four miles north-west of Bronson some time ago. James T. Lardner on learning the contents of the message, decided to investigate the matter and took the next train to Redfield where he found the missing boy, and easily persuaded him to return to Bronson. No reason is known as why the boy left home.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Anna Green, wife of Martin Green, was born in Ely Missouri on March 16 (tear in paper here, and data askewed) 1872. Was laid to rest beside her father in Bronson Cemetery, to await the coming of loved ones to Heaven.

Died: Charles McCabe born Feb 22, 1824 near Terra Haute, Ind. (same tear in paper for this data also). He came to Ogle County Illinois when just a young boy and he lived there when he married Miss Rhumann Billmyer in 1847. Born to them eleven children, three of which died in infancy, eight of which are still living. They moved from Ogle County to Kansas in 1866, they lived on their homestead until March 8, 1902, when they made their home with their daughter Mrs. C. J. Willetts. After lingering illness of several months he died April 15, 1902 at the age of 78 years 1 month and 23 days.
