Obituary of J. C. BRAUNGARDT

J.C. Braungardt, 80, of Rock, died Friday evening, April 14, 2000, at Via Christi - St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 18 at Douglass Christian Church in Douglass. Masonic Rites will follow at Douglass Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Monday, April 17, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

He was born March 1, 1920 in Moscow Mills, Mo., one of six children, to Julius and Lillian (Miller) Braungardt. He was raised in Missouri and graduated high school in Troy, Mo.

On April 5, 1942, he married Frances Starkey at Rock. They made their home in Rock for the last 58 years. She survives. He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of the Rock Christian Church and the Douglass Christian Church. He was also a member of the Douglass Masonic Lodge #155 AF&AM and the Scottish and Shrine Rite.

Before retiring, he and his wife donated their time in transporting disabled children from Wichita to the Children's Shriners Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Scott Braungardt of Rock, Kirk Braungardt of Copan, Okla. and J.L. Braungardt and his wife, Sherri of Douglass; his brothers, Miller Braungardt of Moscow Mills, Mo., Jack Braungardt of Flint Hills and LeRoy Braungardt of Moscow Mills; his sisters, Leona Westhoff and Pearl Harrell, both of Troy; six grandchildren, Jamie, Jeremy, Joshua, Kara Dee, Justin and Julie Braungardt; and one great-grandson, Tristan Braungardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
