Obituary of FERN E. BREWER
Fern E. Brewer, 89, of Latham, died Wednesday evening, March 15, 2000, at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at the Latham United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Latham Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 15, 1910 in rural Wellington to John A. and Vesta (Shay) Spohr. She had lived in the Latham and Beaumont areas all of her life.

She married Fred E. Brewer on Dec. 20, 1927 in Beaumont. She also drove a school bus for the Latham schools. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1968.

She was a homemaker. She also owned and operated Latham General Store for 15 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and she served as secretary and past Worthy Matron of the lodge.

She is survived by three sons, James Brewer and Jack Brewer, both of Latham and John Brewer of Beaumont; two sisters, Ruth Woodward of Arkansas City and Ethel Mae Manning of Friech, Texas; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister.

Memorials have been established for the Beaumont Water Tower project and the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be sent in care of Kirby-Morris 
Funeral Home.
