Obituary of HARVEY R. "BOB" CAMERON

Harvey R. "Bob" Cameron, 96, of El Dorado, died early Monday morning, Feb. 28, 2000, at HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Services will be at
11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 3, 1903 in Smith Center and was raised on a family farm 15 miles northeast of Smith Center. He went to public schools in the area and then to college in Salina. In Salina, he met Mabel Dora Cowell of Clay Center and they married in 1930. She preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 1980.

Bob and Dora lived all their married life in El Dorado. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad until 1933 and then for the El Dorado Refining Company/American Petrofina until his retirement in 1968.

In 1936, the family moved to the home at 520 S. High, which was still his home until a fire in 1997 forced him to move to Knutson Manor where he lived until his death.

He was a member of First Baptist Church all his years in El Dorado and in recent years had also attended Park Avenue Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Betty Cameron of Denver; one grandson, Greg Cameron of Phoenix, Ariz.; and one granddaughter, Lisa Cameron of Atlanta, Ga.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, an older sister and a younger brother.
