EL DORADO TIMES, 14 March 2000
Virgil Roy "Buck" Good, 79, of El Dorado, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at his home in El Dorado. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Beaver United Methodist Church in Beaver, Okla.

He was born June 15, 1920 at Brownfield, Texas to Milton Paul and Carrie Lee (Kyle) Good. He was the seventh of eight children. He soon acquired the name of Buck or Buckie from an older sister who couldn't say "little brother." Instead she said "little Buckie," which he was known as for several years. He finally outgrew the "little."

Buck graduated from Dickens High School in Bronte, Texas in 1939. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945.

He married Joy Jackson in Lubbock, Texas, on Aug. 8, 1948. They soon moved to Ashland, where they farmed. In 1959, the Goods moved to Beaver, where Buck worked for Ashland Oil as a pumper. He retired on April 15, 1983. In 1996, Buck and his wife moved to El Dorado. Joy died Dec. 5, 1996.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Mary Martha Good of El Dorado; a daughter, Levell Good of Golden, Colo.; one brother, G. W. Good of Moline; and three grandchildren, Meredith and Milton Good of El Dorado and Sarah Clark of Golden.

Memorials have been established for the Senior Citizens in Beaver, Okla., Beaver United Methodist Church, or Bradford Memorial Library in El Dorado. Contributions may be sent in care of Carlson Funeral Home.
