     Feb. 9 -- Dr. Drake of Cottonwood Falls has just put up in the Ice Cemetery a fine monument in memory of the late Mrs. Rebecca A. Hawkins.


     Joe Hensler froze one of his hands while coming to town yesterday.


     Feb. 16 -- Geo. Yeager, Sr., of Rock Creek had nearly an inch of the first finger on his left hand cut off in a corn grinder last week. He was in town Tuesday afternoon getting it dressed by Drs. Conaway and Hamme.


     O. H. Drinkwater has purchased the right to sell a patent feed cooker in Chase County.


     The friends of Phil Santy an old time resident of Clements, will be glad to hear he is reported to have struck gold in California. We hope it is so.


     Feb. 23 -- Oscar Duehn, of Clements has received a car load of full blooded Shorthorn cowss. They are said to be the handsomest bunch of Cows in the county.



     Will McNee, Dr. Homme, Bruce Johnston and June Smith left Saturday on a hunting trip to the salt marshes, south of Ellinwood.


     John Evans yesterday sold his fine bay team to John Barrett.
