     November 23, 1899 -- Jonathan Minnix, an old West Virginia soldier, died at Matfield last Sunday.


     There will be a social dance at Geo. Fink's Friday night, Cedar township.


     Thos. Vinson has leased his ranch near Morgan postoffice, to a Mr. Thompson.


     Nov. 30 -- M. C. Newton will be Beach's under sheriff.


     A daughter born to the T. G. Allens, this city.


     Marriage of Gertrude Park of Elmdale to Guy Triplett of Emporia. James Jordan of Elk to Zoe Channell of Wonsevu.


     Bibles sold at Replogle's for $1.50 each.


     Rosetta Harman wife of M. K. Harman passed away at the age of 21.


     Elizabeth Hanson died Nov. 21, age 17.


     Dec. 7 -- D. J. White of Clements has moved into his new home.


     Bazaar turkey shoot, Frank Yeager won four birds, and the others not one.


     A very pretty wedding at the home of Mr. & Mrs W. H. Duncan, who's daughter, Veda Ballie married Geo. W. Stephenson of Cottonwood Falls.


     About fifteen couples attended the A. 0. U. W. dance at Elmdale, Thanksgiving night, from this city and Strong.


     The Commercial Hotel, at Strong is now lighted with Acetylene gas and the building is heated by a hot air furnace.


     Chris Kaufmann of Prairie Hill has recently added to his worldly possessions, 160 aces of land one mile north of his present farm, for which he paid $800.


     Dec. 14 -- Christmas gifts at Replogle's, dolls 25 cents.


     A marriage license was granted to Clarence E. Gardner and Grace M. Deel both of Cedar Township.


     "I wish you could see those pretty things at Mr. Finley's Jewelry Store."


     Newt Bocook and Stella Jones, Matfield Green are wed at the home of the bride's parents.


     Dec. 21 -- The boys of Brush creek and vicinty had a good old fashioned coon hunt last Friday night.


     Wm. S. Siler has been appointed postmater at Birley.


     A new postoffice has been established in Chase County, or an old office has been reopened, Plumb on Jacobs creek with E. E. Fisher as postmaster.


     Dec. 28 -- Marriage licence issued to Artie Jones of Matfield and Estella Hawkins of Clements.
