     Jan. 18 -- George Yeager took charge of the Eureka house, Tuesday.

     J. L. Ellis has moved to the A. Z. Scribner farm, near Bazaar.

     Will Shaft and Steve Watson of Clements, are laid up with the mumps.

     Albert Rogler, guardian of Henry & Jennie Rogler, made final settlement on the 15th.

     The officers of Geary Post, No. 15, were installed last Monday.

     Born to Mr. & Mrs John Miller on Cottonwood River, 3 miles east of this city, Jan. 13, a daughter.

     Jan. 25 -- J. L. Crawford of Wonsevu, came very near losing his barn on the 14th. It was supposed the pipe was the cause. Smokers, be careful.

     Fred Siler and Gertie Atkinson, of this city were married at Emporia.

     Fred Romigh won the rubber tire road wagon, raffled off by Harris & Co. last week.

     The Myers family, who have been living in one of John Bill's houses,and sending their children to school, have moved back to the farm, south of Matfield, as a result of the smallpox scare.

     M. P. Strail has added to his blacksmith shop a device for holding a bad kicking horse while being shod.

     A child of C. W. Hulet, on South Fork, was badly burned last Saturday by a bucket of boiling water, which he stepped into.

     M. H. Lewis of Strong City has true Acme seed potatoes for sale at one dollar per bushel .

     Feb. 1 -- S. R. Sayre is trapping beaver on Middle creek. It is reported he has caught two.

     Ed Sullivan has purchased the barn he has occupied so long from Frank Lee.

     There will be a basket supper at the Patton school house on Wednesday evening Feb. 14th , for the benefit of the United Brethren Parsonage.

     Feb. 8 -- Vasie Horton, wife of Robert Horton and daughter of 0. H. Drinkwater died at her home. Buried at Cedar Point.

     James Barker was in town Saturday, wearing a coat made by his wife who is 85 years old.

     Royal Clifford, son of Mr. & Mrs John A. Mann, aged 14 months, died last Sunday moring of pneumonia. Service held at the Miller school house.
