     1907


     Apr. 16, 1907 - The Exchange National Bank purchased the Corner Drug Store building from E. D. Replogle and will fit it up for a bank building.



     Charles M. Gregory has bought a fine location for the residence he intends to build this summer. It will face east at the west end of Pearl Street.



     Anna Kerwin of Strong City and Charles Thomas of Elmdale are married at the Strong City Catholic Church.



     Mrs Peter Harder, an old settler of Chase County in 1873, celebrated her 70th birthday with friends and neighbors on Spring Creek.



     Apr. 19 - These are some of the young men who will respresent Chase Co. at the track meet, Pole Vault: Whit Speer, Tom Norton, Running High Jump; Ernest Arnold, 440 Yard Run; Fred Overstreet and John McDowell.



     Over 100 car loads of western cattle have been shipped to Bazaar for summer pasturing. 50 car loads were unloaded for Carl Palmer of Strong City.



     Apr. 23 - Chase County won third place at the Kansas State High School track meet held at Emporia.



     A. E. Martin of Martin Dry Goods Co., has bought the L. R. Holmes store building and his home at the corner of Oak and 1st street.



     The 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. & Mrs Harvey Geiger of Elmdale is celebrated.



     Apr. 30 - Geo. Yeager of Rock Creek received two Russian wolf hounds from Conn.



     The big drainage ditch south of the town of Elmdale is finished.



     May 3 - You can ride for 2 cents a mile on a mileage book that can be purchased from any Santa Fe Agent.



     We congratulate the Leader upon securing Chas. O'Bryant as editor for the Elmdale page.



     May 7 - Jay Eastman, formerly of this city and Ellen Pierson of Ottawa are married.



     The Sam Cowley's of New Hope have a new daughter.



     May 10 - Clyde Johnston of the Falls has bought a cement block machine and will began at once the manufacture of cement blocks for the Holmes new store building.



     Capt. Ewing has sold his farm and store to Mr. T M Weaver. Capt. Ewing is one of the oldest postmasters in point of service in Kansas.



     Mrs Thomas G. Vinson of Strong City has died.



     May 14 - Miss Hanna Brock of the Falls and Wm. Mercer of Cedar Point are married. He is a farmer and stockman and she a school teacher.



     Supt. T. G. Allen closed his term as county Superintendent and Miss Anna Arnold succeeded him.



     The John Mailen's of Strong City have a new baby boy.



     Fred Roniger of Elmdale and Cora Tyler of Hymer are married.
