     1907

     Aug. 6, 1907 - John W. Geary Post #15 of the Falls and McDonald Post of Strong City were consolidated under the name and number of the Post of the Falls.

     David Messer of Homestead died at his home. Mr. & Mrs Messer raised a large family.

     L. B. Breese of Elmdale put in a row of hitching posts on the west side of the street for the accommodation of the people who have need of them.

     Aug. 9 - Allen Johnson aged 24 died and his burial is in the Elmdale cemetery. He was the son of Dr. & Mrs F. T. Johnson.

     Aug. 13 - Geo. Selves of South Fork was shooting bull frogs with a revolver and accidently shot himself in the foot.

     Harvey Giger is having a new barn built, same size as the old one destroyed by fire. Sam Thomas is doing the work.

     Aug. 16 - Wedding of Mrs Edna Holmes and H. E. Garrison of Strong City.

     Quite a few of the Cottonwood Falls folks are vacating in Colorado.

     The new church at Homestead will be dedicated on Aug. 25th.

     Aug. 20 - Willey Stowers who lived two miles northeast of Elk, one of the most prominent farmers of Diamond township, died at his home of typhoid fever.

     J. T. Clarkson of Herington is here to start a steam laundry in the Falls.

     Emma Beasley Proeger, wife of Henry Poeger has died at her home on Jacobs creek. Mrs Proeger is survived by her husband and eight children.

     Aug. 27 - Born to Mr. & Mrs. Everett Stout, three miles east have a new son.

     Mr. & Mrs Mahlon H. Lewis celebrate their Golden wedding anniversary.

     Patrick J. Maloney who recently lived here died at his home in Parsons, Ks. Mr. Maloney was employed by A.T. & S. F. Railroad where he received his injury.

     Aug. 30 - Fannie Grace Hammonds, daughter of Willard R. and Mary Park of Clements died on Aug. 26th. In 1906 she was married to W. A. Hammond, Postmaster of Clements and was only 20 years old.

     Abe Keener has died from his injuries he received on July 22, when his thresher went through the Simmons bridge.

     Sept. 3 - Sad news was received that Mrs Sam Houston of Elmdale was taken to the State hospital and a short time ago died there. She is the mother of four children.

     Sept. 6 - Baseball has attacked most of the young men of north Toledo and also some of the older men.

     The greatest Log Rolling in the history of Chase County will be held at Bates Grove on Sept. 25th.

     Sept. 10 - Beginning Sept. 9th the curfew bell rings at 8 PM instead of 9 PM and will stay that way until the first of next April.
