1907
Oct. 29, 1907 - The four big stone columns which will support the front porch of the Gregory home are attracting considerable attention. They are the invention of John Shofe who designed and built them. Contractors from Kansas City and men from St. Louis have come to see them.
The new stone house of J. N. Riley's is almost completed.
Nov. 1- Mr. & Mrs Ferd Jeffrey of Elmdale have a fine new son.
Also Mr. & Mrs W. K. Meyers of Cottonwood Falls a daughter.
Cottonwood Falls is getting a new depot built, as the old one burned down last spring. It is located on the same site. The new depot should be completed in about a month as nine men are working on it.
Nov. 5 - Mr. & Mrs Z. Stanbrough who live northeast of Strong City have a new daughter.
D. K. Cartter finished moving from the Cartter Ranch east of the Falls to the property he recently purchased from A. M. Clark.
Nov. 12 - Bazaar has a new butcher shop run by Ben Talkington
R. Z. Blackburn's new house is progressing nicely under the management of John Mitchell and Brice Hays.
Harry Brandley and Audrey Snedegar both of Matfield Green are married.
Nov. 15 - James Dixon of Middle Creek has been making extensive experiments this year in the sugar beet culture.
The granite column which is to be put in as a corner support in the Exchange National Bank in the Falls has arrived and put in place.
Nov. 19 - The jury in the case of Schriver vs the A. T. & S. F. Railroad returned a verdict of $5,000 damages causing the death of Mr. Schriver. The railroad has appealed the case to the supreme court.
Nov. 26 - The new house of Chas. McDowell in the west part of town, which was almost finished caught fire and was damaged before the fire could be put out.
Jason Petford took his first degree in the Masonic Lodge held here.
The Elmdale reporter states that the wolves are so bad in this vicinity that it is hard to tell who will eat the turkeys "Us-ens" or "Them-ens".
Nov. 29 - Maude Rogler and Ralph Armstrong of Ashton, Idaho are married. Maude is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs Lawrence Rogler of Matfield Green.
A daughter is born to Mr. & Mrs Ben Talkington near Elmdale.
John McDowell, Whit Speer, and Harold Wood are attending the Agricultural College at Manhattan.
Dec. 3 - The eight month old daughter, Bernice Louise, the fourth child of Mr. & Mrs Thomas McCabe of Bazaar has died.
Dr. & Mrs Lancaster of Strong City are the parents of a boy.
Lena Coleman of the Falls and David Koegoeboehn of Prairie Grove were united in marriage.
Mrs Jane Park, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Thomas H. Grisham of the falls.
The S. R. Stauffer farm of 400 acres on Diamond Creek has been sold to Emery Thompson.
