     1907 - 1908

     Dec. 3, 1907 - The Elk Monument was erected on Nov. 30th.

     Dec. 10 - Robert Drummond of Wichita who was formerly one of the early settlers of Chase County died at the home of his brother, Andrew Drummond on Diamond Creek.

     Dr. C. M. Corbin and wife of Kansas City expect to locate in Cottonwood Falls where the doctor will practice Osteopathy, taking the place of Dr. Bryant.

     Dec. 17 - Carl Dawson, the nine year old son of Geo. Dawson broke his leg while playing football when a couple of the larger boys fell on him. Dr. Conaway of the Falls and Dr. Rich of Clements set the bone which was a most difficult one.

     Mr. & Mrs R. Z. Blackburn of Bazaar dedicated their new home by giving a house warming social and dance.

     Mr. & Mrs. Spencer Pickard are the happy parents of a pair of twin boys. Dr. Rich says they are both Republicans.

     Dec. 24 - Fred Romigh is attending the Veterinary College at Kansas City.

     Dec. 27 – Mrs. R. H. Chandler died at her home in Bazaar.

     Dec. 31 - The W. G. Smith Light & Power Co. is perfecting plans for putting in an ice plant.

     Clarence Riggs of Cedar Point has caught several large mink this winter.

     Jan. 3, 1908 - Mr. & Mrs. Ned Whitney of Hymer have a new 10 pound son, born on Dec. 31, 1907.

     Jan. 7 - Tom McCabe of Bazaar was taken to Christ's Hospital at Topeka where he underwent an operation for appendicitis. Dr. Hamme accompanied him.

     Jan. 10 - Sam Ludwig of New Hope has one daughter married, Annie to Reuben Holderman and another daughter is born the following week.

     Mrs. John Gross died at her home in the Falls and will be buried at Bazaar.

     Born to Mr. & Mrs. Al Ryan of Strong City, a 12 pound son.

     David Koegeboehn died at his home near Elk.

     Jan. 14 - Commissioners set a gopher bounty of 10 cents each for 1908.

     Mr. Levi Pinkston died at his home near Cedar Point at age 76 years.

     A daughter was born to Dr. and Mrs. Shelley of Elmdale.

     Jan. 17 - Miss Minnie Ellis is now teaching her twenty-ninth term. Her first teaching job was at the Brandley school near Matfield Green.

     Bert Allen will leave soon for Washington, D. C. where he has a good position in the capital building. If he likes it his family will follow in the Spring.

     Born to Mr. & Mrs Ray Patton of Clements, a daughter and Mr. & Mrs. Henry Rogler, of Matfield Green also a daughter.

     Jan. 21 - Fred Imm, living near Elk was arrested by U. S. Deputy Marshell Need of Topeka, on charges of selling liquor without a government license.
