     Aug. 4, 1908 - The business men and clerks have arranged for a ball game. The proceeds will be donated to the Boys Band, with which to purchase new music.

     Frank Hager and Carrie Childers are married.

     Aug. 11 - Isa Maybell and Chas. Connacher are married.

     A sad fatal accident of a horse kicking Walter Morris of Homestead results in his death at the young age of 18.

     The post office at Cottonwood Falls will move to the room recently vacated by the Exchange National Bank.

     Aug. 14 - The community was shocked to hear of the death of Arch Miller, Jr. of South Fork. He was laid to rest in the family burying ground at Miller cemetery.

     Aug. 18 - The Chase County Leader has bought the subscription list and good will of the Matfield Mirror.

     Aug. 25 - Mrs Eliza Hinckley has died. The family lived in a log cabin on the hill facing the river now know as Mill street in 1861. She had four children, Edwin, Ida, Rollie and Omer. The Hinckley's owned and operated the mill a number of years. Also ran the Hinckley Hotel, known as the Commercial Hotel until Mr. Hinckley's death in 1881. Mrs Hinckley then ran the hotel for a number of years.

     Mrs Charles Glennie died at her home in Strong City.

     Aug. 28 - Dr. J. M. Hamme found dead in bed in his room at the Central Hotel by his partner, Dr. C. L. Conway. The cause of his death was due to a heart attack. He was a favorite at all social functions and few were held without his presence. Dr. Hamme came to Cottonwood Falls in 1890.

     Sept. 1 - Master Eugene Martin, the 11 year old son of Mr. & Mrs A. E. Martin of the Falls was drowned in the Cottonwood Falls near Elmdale.

     A marriage license was issued to Sidney P. Loomis and Stella F. Barr, both of Diamond creek.

     Sept. 4 - Miss Minnie Norton and sister Grace are moving to town in preparation for high school.

     Sept. 8 - The Falls city school enrollment is 237 this year.

     P. J. Norton and J. H. Mercer accompanied the body of Dr. J. A. Hamme to New York, Pennsylvania for burial.

     Sept. 11 - The Taft and Stubbs Clubs organized by the colored citizens of Strong City will give a free barbecue at Strong City on Oct. 2nd.

     Corn is selling for around 80 cents a bushel. About a dozen years ago it sold for 10 cents a bushel.

     J. D. McNee of the Falls sells his hardware store to Mr. S. S. Moore.

     Sept. 15 - Work has begun on the water works stand pipe on the southeast corner of the city school grounds in the Falls.

     The Clements Cornet Band gave a Tacky Dance and it was a sucess in every respect. About 200 were in attendance.
