     Sept. 15 - 1908 - Dr. W. H. Yandell of Greenwood County will locate in the Falls.

     Sept. 22 - Miss Myra King of the Falls, who was teaching at Banks school, south of Matfield, with two of her pupils were drowned in South Fork on their way home from school. Nela Fultz and Victor Rector were the two pupils.

     Born to Mr. & Mrs C. C. Deering of Homestead, a son.

     Miss Rosa Whetherholt is the teacher at Forest Hill this term.

     Sept. 29 - The Jim McCabe running horse was taken to Emporia to be entered at the Lyon County fair.

     R. S. Martin is a veterinarian at Cottonwood Falls and Berlin R. Miller the dentist.

     Austin Crawford hanged himself in an abandoned blacksmith shop at Clement.

     A son was born to Nelson Galentine and wife of Sharp's creek.

     Oct. 6 - Wm. Howard Taft stopped in Strong City and many Chase County folks attended to see him.

     Mr. J. A. Goudie of Strong City dies at his home.

     Oct. 9 - B. T. Evans of Newton, has the contract for laying the water pipes for the city water works.

     Oct. 13 - Pearl Hudson of the Falls and Walter J. Harrison of Herington are wed.

     A fire destroyed the house and barn belonging to Dr. Hoover of Saffordville.

     Oct. 16 - Some of the finest apples of the season have come to the editor from the Red Apple Farm owned by T. J. Banks south of Matfield Green.

     Oct. 16 - W. S. Romigh was instantly killed just west of the city limits, of the Falls, he ran his car off the south side of the Spring Creek bridge. Mr. Romigh has been in the public life for many years.

     Oct. 23 - The Board of Trustees organized for the erection of a Methodist church at Bazaar.

     Oct. 27 - Benj. F. Largent, one of the oldest residents of Matfield Green died at his home.

     Henry Fink, died suddently at Hymer, age 42 years.

     The Consolidated Street Car Co. put stoves in their cars which makes them more comfortable these days.

     Oct. 30 - Cottonwood Falls market prices listed in Leader: Butter fat, per pound, 24 cents fresh eggs, doz., 20 cents, Hens, per pound, 6 cents, Springs, per pound, 10 cents.

     Grace Crouch and Ernest Whipkey of Saffordville are married.

     Nov. 3 – Mrs. Ellen Fiske of Bazaar, age 70 was run over by the Santa Fe passenger train.

     Nov. 11- Nellie Tedrow and George Starkey of Elmdale are married at Cadiz, Ohio. Chase County will be their home.

     Nov. 13 - The pipeline for our water works is finished from the spring to the stand pipe and water can now be turned on into the city limits.

     A new heating plant at the court house is nearly completed.
