     Jun. 22- 1909 - James H. Dye one of the oldest residents of Clements died suddenly of heart failure.

     The Chautauqua will last ten days this year.

     A son was born to Mr. & Mrs. J. H. Quinn on Peyton creek.

     June 29 - Prairie Hill will celebrate the fourth of July at Starkey's Grove.

     A season ticket for the Chautauqua will cost $2.00 with twenty entertainings in all. A bargin 10¢ per show.

     Miss Cleo Ice and Mr. E. B. Laughridge both of Clements are married.

     Jul. 2 - The stockholders of the Twin City Baseball Club will hold a meeting at Strong City.

     Mr. & Mrs. W. A. Morgan have a 30 foot flag pole erected in their yard. This is the first private flag pole in Cottonwood Falls.

     Jul. 6 - Chase County will be short on school teachers for the coming school year.

     Jul. 9 - The City Council passed an ordinance limiting the rate of speed in the Falls to ten miles an hour.

     Someone has been dynamiting fish as multitudes of dead ones have been floating down the river.

     Workman have been busy nailing up street signs at the street crossings.

     Jul. 23 - Some patriotic individual would confer a favor to the community and the scenery by cutting the weeds along the road between Cottonwood Falls and Strong City.

     Jul. 27 - Born to Chas. Golden and wife of Matfield Green, a son. Harold Blackshere of the Clover Cliff ranch and Jennie Baker of Cottonwood Falls are married.

     July 30- Clint Baldwin will teach at the Rock creek school this term and Margaret Becker at Buck creek.

     Aug. 3 - W. C. Harvey was appointed Trustee of Strong township, David Biggam having died.

     A son was born to M. McCabe and wife on Buck creek.

     The first Chase County Chautauqua closed and was deemed a great success.

     Aug. 6 - By a score of 9-8 the business men of Strong City defeated the business men of Cottonwood Falls in a game of ball at the Twin City Park.

     Aug. 10 - Chase County has a population of 7,126.

     Real Estate Transfer - United Brethren Church to Frank Kent, 16-100 acre in the NW 1/4 of 33-20-8 for $245.

     U. S. quits issuing $2 bills.

     Mrs A. R. Ice has bought the Arch Miller lot south of the Presbyterian church and will soon begin the erection of a cottage on it.

     B. F. Talkington of Bazaar has sold his store and residence property to John Blackburn of Hartford.

     L. R. Holmes new furniture store is ready for the second story floor.
