       Mrs. Chas. S. Hays died at her Bazaar home. She was 65 years old. She has been a resident of Chase County almost 40 years. Four children are left. They are Mr. C. A. Smock, El Dorado, Ks.; Frank & Sibil all of Bazaar, Ks.

        Guy Byram of Cedar Point and Vera White of Strong City are married.

        Jan. 28 - L. W. Heck was quite badly hurt by falling from a scaffold on which he was painting at the West-Houghton Lumber Yard.

        Hugh McLinden and Cora Heckendorn are married by Father Verdan of Strong City.

        L. R. Holmes new store building is now almost complete.

        Mr. W. A. Gordon has been appointed Clerk of the school board in Strong City to succeed Mrs. Dunlap, who has moved.

        Feb 1 - Halley's comet made its first appearance a few evenings ago in the western heavens to the surprise of all.

        James Pringle has bought a farm near Wichita and is selling his farm on Middle creek.

        Feb. 11 - Samuel O. Mann died in Oklahoma. John Mann of Cottonwood Falls and Wm. Mann and Edward Mann of Bazaar are his nephews.

        Neil Campbell who came to Chase Co. in 1857 and settled on a farm near Plymouth has died.

        Henry Giese is made fire chief of a new fire department at Cottonwood Falls and Ed Forney is appointed assistant chief.

        Rev. McKinley resigns as Pastor of the Presbyterian church of Cottonwood Falls.

        Feb. 15 - County Health officer Dr. F. T. Johnson was out inspecting hotels, restaurants, bakeries and baker shops in Clements. This is in accordance with a new law passed last July.

        Feb. 22 - Oma Erickson of Canaan and John Lind of Saffordville are wed.

        Miss Cleo Huggins died at the home of her parents of Clements. She was seventeen years old.

        Judge Wells issued a marriage license to Andrew Drummond and Margaret Henley both of Elmdale.

        A box supper will be held at the Prairie Hill school house.
