        Apr. 26 - Fire destroys every business house at Clements, except three, with several residences and many outbuildings destroyed. Probably the fire started from sparks from a railroad engine. Damage will run over $50,000.

        Norton Brothers of Bazaar dedicated their new barn by holding a big dance. About 100 attended and it is said the hop was great.

        Probate Judge Wells issued a marriage license to Harry Gibson and Lydia Ballew of Clements. The young couple were then married by Rev. O. C. Bronston.

        Apr. 29 - The first annual Junior-Senior banquet of Elmdale high school was held at the home of S. M. Wood.

        May 3 - A. G. Waddle & Son closed their store in order to pack. Their new home will be in Winchester.

        Hail & wind does much damage over Chase County.

        Fred Riley son of Mr. & Mrs. J. M. Riley of Spring creek and Vina Wallie of Buck creek are married.

        Don C. Allen is asking for the Republican nomination for County Clerk.

        Leroy Giger of Elmdale and Inez Gillett of Cottonwood Falls tied the knot at the bride's home. Both are teachers.

        Breese carries the Buster Brown shoes, oxfords, and strap sandals at his Elmdale store. Daniel Kerwin died at his home in Strong City. He leaves a devoted wife and 5 daughters, his five sons having all gone before him.

        May 10 - Harry C.. Holmes and Rhuy Wood both of Elmdale are joined together in holy union.

        May 13 - The Cedar Point depot was completely destroyed by fire, from a spark farm a passing engine.

        The well at the Elmdale Cemetery is finally completed. The well is one hundred and fifty feet deep and the water rises to within forty feet of the top.

        Tickets for commencement will go on sale at Replogle's. Tickets with reserved seats - 25 cents.
