     Ed King is preparing to open a new store in A. Morgan's building. The new store will be a general or variety store but will not include groceries.

     Thrown and rolled upon by the horse he was riding, George Uhl, the eight year old son of Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Uhl of Prairie Hill died as a result of internal injuries.

     Oct. 7 - Ed Hudson finished moving the 40 year old Methodist church building of Cottonwood Falls , a new one will take it's place, until then the old building will be used for a place of worship.

     Two babies are born, a son to Mr. & Mrs. D. M. Smity of this city and a girl to Mr. & Mrs. Val Uhl of Buck creek.

     Oct. 11 - Miss Nora Ice of Cedar Point and Raney S. Showalter of Strong City are wed.

     Oct. 14 - Jesse Tilton who lives near Saffordville was run down by a train a short distance from Saffordville.

     The new Cress store at Clements is not yet finished but they are moving in.

     Oct. 17 - Andrew Hamilton of Elmdale and Agnes Ramsey of Hymer are wed. They are at home on the Hamilton farm on the old 101 ranch.

     Elmdale is in need of more of the following: Harness Maker, Seamstresses, and Laundresses.

     Will Gregory is attending the St. Johns Military School at Salina, Ks.

     Oct. 21 - W. W. Austin of the Home Light & Power Co. has purchased the interest of Clay Shaft's and is now the sole owner of the business.

     The new house of Peter Hamilton on Spring creek is finished and the Hamiltons will move in a few days.

     Oct. 25 - Clinton Bocook of Matfield Green and Madge Mann of South Fork were married at the latter's home. The marriage was performed at high noon. Madge has been teaching for several years.

     Frances Bernard, one of Chase County's oldest and most honored residents, died at his home in Cedar Point. Mr. Bernard had lived at Cedar Point for fifty-three years. His homeland was Dion, France..

     Oct. 28 - Asa Pendergraft of South Fork & Sibyl Hays of Bazaar went to Emporia and got married. Everyone including family members were surprised.
