     1910-1911

     Dec. 13, 1910 - One of Cottonwood Falls most honored women, Mrs. W. A. Morgan has died. She is the wife of W. A. Morgan, founder of the Chase County Leader.

     Dec. 20 - Dr. C. S. Rannells who died at his home in Cedar Point will probably be missed from the community in which he has so long lived more than any other man. He loved his wife and two little adopted daughters, as but few men love their home.

     Be sure and get one of those sterling silver thimbles for 10 cents at Brandley's Jewelry Store.

     Dec. 27 - The room was decorated with holly and mistletoe when Anna Watson and Otto Frey were married at high noon on Christmas day.

     Dec. 30 - On Dec. 23rd. a masquerade ball was pulled off at Hunts opera house by 200 people.

Jan. 3, 1911 - Weddings - Oscar L. May and May Kerns, both of Stribby creek, Gladys Hunt of Cottonwood Falls and Worley Orr of Ok, Lena Mar of Thurman and Lawson A. Moxey of Whiting, Ks.

     Michael Fritz died at his home near Elk. He came to Chase County in 1883 and has since that time resided on his farm.

     Jan. 6 – Mrs. Berta Plummer who was elected Register of Deeds took charge of her office.

     Mr. & Mrs. John Duckett of Den creek celebrated their fifieth wedding anniversary.

     Jan. 10 - Etta Erwin of Cedar Point and Charles Evans of Clements were secretly married at Newton.

     Mr. E. B. Greene is the local weather observer at Bazaar.

     Joseph Harrison who has run a small grocery store at Bazaar has passed away.

     The Park Hotel is being plastered.

     Charley Byram and his bride have returned to Clements from their bridal to Missouri.

     Jan. 17 - Three more new cases of smallpox are reported at Saffordville. Also an epidmic of lagrippe and pneumonia is causing much sickness in the county.

     Jan. 20 - A pair of twin boys weighing barely three pounds each were born to Mr. & Mrs. Will Fillmore, who live several miles south of Cottonwood.

     W. W. Harvey of Strong City and Coe & Trayer of Cottonwood Falls have three ice houses at Strong City almost full of ice.

     Jan. 27 - Born to Mr. & Mrs. W. B. Penney a twelve pound boy. The baby died soon after birth.

     Jan. 31 - Dr. Wm. Rich who has lived in Clements 30 years dies at his home. He leaves a wife and two daughters.
