     Apr. 19, 1900 -- Little Tommy Brant, one of the historical characters of Strong City, died of cancer, last Saturday.

     Dr. Cartter is having extensive improvements made at his residence. The one-story wing will be raised to two full stories, and the interior will be fitted up in modern style and supplied with every convenience.

     Apr. 26 -- The Gamer bridge is open for travel.

     Dr. F. H. Bryant and Mrs Hannah C. Adamson were married yesterday evening.

     The Brandley case has been set for May 14 at Emporia.

     Fred Flood, the genial proprietor of the Candy kitchen, has moved his stock into the building formerly occupied by The Racket.

     May 3, 1900 -- Born to Mr. & Mrs Rid Scribner, this city, a son April 29th.

     Mr. Bonewell is giving the Eureka house a coat of lurid paint.

     When down by Hiltons's Pharmacy next Saturday, May 5, drop in and get a free glass of Soda water.

     Katie, wife of D. C. Evans, died at the family home, on South Fork, May 1 of liver complications.

     Mrs Mary E. Houghton has paid off the last indebtedness on the M. M. Houghton place.

     The proposed Strong City Opera House will be built north of Dave Biggam's residence. The basement will be arranged for a ball room. The auditorium, second floor, will have an incline floor, seated with opera chairs. The building will be stone 50x80 feet. Estimated cost $8,000.

     May 10, 1900 -- Mrs W. A. Morgan will deliver the memorial address at Peabody on the 30th.

     John Petty is postmaster of Strong City.

     A. R. Ice, Lish Marden, and Dr. Rich are the bee men of this county. Marden has 100 swarms and expects this to be a very successful year.

     Capt. Brandley is advertising in the Kansas City papers for a harness maker and shoemaker to locate in Matfield.

     The Crocker school house on South Fork, was struck by lighting last Friday afternoon, and damaged to the amount of $50.
