Jan. 9, 1913 - David P. Shaft, who had been a familiar figure for many years in Chase County has died. He was 72 years old and never married.
A son is born to Mr. & Mrs Cleave Hanson of Saffordville.
Feb. 6 - Alfred Mercer, age 86 passed away at Homestead.
Feb. 13 - D. C. Evans passed away, he leaves three sons, Joseph, Homer, and Cal, all of Cottonwood Falls.
Nell Evans & Robert McNee have a very pretty home wedding.
Sealed bids will be received at the County Clerk's office from all contractors who are interested in the erection of an outside toilet in the Chase County Courthouse yard.
Feb. 20 - John Varner closed a deal for the sale of his farm a mile west of Cottonwood Falls to R. B. Rufner of Dickinson County.
Mar. 6 – Mrs. Fanny Hudson, 41 died and leaves her husband Ed and four daughters.
Henry Giese buys a blacksmith shop at Lebo and will move there soon.
Mar. 20 - Katherine K. Reifsnyder of Strong City & Alfred L. Schroer of Marion are wed.
Mar. 27 - Charley Cox was arrested in Strong City for bootlegging. Fined $100 and a jail confinement for 30 days.
Minnie Ellis has died of pneumonia at New Mexico. Teaching little childred was her lifes work.
Apr. 10 - The crowd which attended the first Market and Special Sales Day in Cottonwood Falls was one of the largest seen in town for many a day.
Arthur, the six year old son of Mr. & Mrs. Ed Childs, who live near Neva was killed by a horse who trampled him, crushing his skull.
Apr. 17 - The new steel state motor tags are made of steel, heavily embossed and enameled, and will cost 9 cents each.
Apr. 24 - F. G. Mauderly of Elmdale and Leona Park of Clements are wed.
May 22 - James Drummond, one of the early settler on Diamond creek was kicked in the stomach by a horse, which resulted in his death.
Jun. 5 - Mr. & Mrs. Tut McCabe of South Fork are the proud parents of a big baby boy, named Lloyd J.
Jun. 12 - After July 1st. marriage licenses will cost an even $3 in all counties.
Population shows by the 1913 census for Chase County is 7,073.
Strong City has a handsome new depot. Pressed brick was used and trimmed with white stone.
