     Jun. 12, 1913 - Leon Ambler & Ellen Hall are wed.

     Jun. 19 - The City has a new street sprinkler.

     Five hundred new maps of Chase County have just been received by the Chase County Abstract Co. The drawing for these maps was done by John Frew.

     Jul. 10 - Clyde Holmes, postmaster at Elmdale has resigned. He and Mrs Holmes are moving to Washington. Mr. Holmes will become Secretary to Congressman, Dudley Doolittle.

     W. W. Austin will have the ice house going hopefully by August lst.

     Jul. 31 - Mrs Thomas Mercer of Homestead passed away. Rosa M. Deering Mercer was 40 years old.

     Aug. 7 - The alfalfa mill is offering $10.00 per ton for alfalfa hay.

     The New York City Band will be at Chautauqua this season.

     Aug. 14 - Elmdale has a city well.

     Aug. 21 - A handsome new three-span concrete bridge will be built across the Cottonwood river.

     Mrs. John Rettiger of Strong City died. Mrs. Rettiger was born in France and has been a resident of Strong City for the past forty years.

     The fifth annual Chase County Chautauqua that was brought to a successful close goes down in history as the most successful assembly ever held in Chase County.

     Sept. 4 – Mrs. J. M. Bielman of Strong City dies at the age of 91.

     Miss Grace Campbell has been appointed as postmistress of Elmdale. She replaces Mr. Clyde Holmes.

     Sept. 11 - Fred Riley of Spring creek meets death at his farm, accidently by a discharging shot gun. Fred was only 24 years old. His parents are Mr. & Mrs. J. N. Riley.

     D. M. Swope of Toledo township died on Peyton creek. Mr. Swope has lived in Chase Co. for 43 years.

     Chase County is one of the few counties that did not have a surplus of teachers this year.

     Miss Alta Linsea, the second oldest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. M. M. Linsea died at her home in the west part of Cottonwood Falls. She had typhoid fever. Burial was in the Miller cemetery.

     Sept. 18 - Born to Mr. & Mrs. Harry Hudson, a baby girl. They live on a farm southeast of town.

     Sept. 25 - Dr. Miller's new cottage on South Oak street is nearing completion.

     The automobile business is advancing so rapidly that it is becoming almost impossible to keep up with it.

     Oct. 2 - The funeral services of Mrs. Evan D. Jones of Strong City was held at the Congregational church.
