     Oct 01,1914 - Louie Kaufman of Praire Hill and Ida Mau of the German neighborhood in the north part of the county were united in marriage.

     Wm. Schrumpf Sr. of Buck creek passed away.

     Born to Mr. & Mrs Jess Starkey of Elmdale, a son.

     Oct 15 - Work on the new concrete bridge across the Cottonwood river here at Cottonwood Falls has been moving rapidly and the new structure is already nearing completion.

     Oct 22 - Deaths; Mrs Euphanna Potter, Andy Walker & James Krebs.

     Nov. 2 - Miss Lilah Foxworthy & Harry Gamer are married. Both young people have lived all their lives in Chase Co.

     Nov. 19 - Ed Forney and his father, Wm. closed a deal last week for the sale of their blacksmith shop.

     Dec. 3 - The appearance of diptheria in the Grandview school district in the east part of this county has necessitated the closing of the school. Two or three cases have been reported and one death.

     Maude E. Stephenson of Clements & W. W. Foresman are wed.

     Dec . 24 - The teachers of the County High School enjoyed a sleigh ride after which they had an oyster stew at the National Hotel. Archie McCandless & Mr. Rufener furnished the sleighs.

     The first annual Christmas program of the Chase Co. High School was given and large crowd was out. Admission of 20 and 25 cents was charged.

     Dec. 31 - Pearl Green & Chauncey Childs of Neva were united in marriage by Probate Judge Coverdill.

     Jan 7, 1915 - The Cottonwood Falls Fire Co. enjoyed their annual banquet at the National Hotel. This was the second annual banquet.

     Marriages - Fred Magathan & Irene Shaw, Bessie Stephenson & J. A. Renneker, Mary Louise Topping & Curtis T. Williams.

     Jan. 14 - Deaths: Bessie Dye of Clements, Edward Kinnie & Jewell Lamer of Cottonwood Falls and James Hanna of Cedar Point.

     The new official in the Register of Deeds is Fred Siler, Clerk of the Court, Chas. Harvey, County Engineer, Chas. Burnett, County Clerk; John Mann and Treasurer; R. Z. Blackburn.

     The farm house of C. C. Deering who is one of the best known farmers of Homestead, was completely destroyed by fire with all its contents.

     Jan. 21 - Carl B. Cowley has taken the managership of the Chase County Leader. Mr. Cowley has worked for the Leader the past 6 to 8 years.

     The excavating and laying of the water pipe line between here and Strong City has now been practically completed.

     Jan. 28 - J. J. Maloney, one of the best known Santa Fe Engineers of this division died at his home in Strong City.

     The new water supply piped from Strong City has been turned on.

     Feb. 4 - Minnie Ludwig & C. W. Mendenhall both of Homestead will be married on Feb. 10th.
