     May 17,1900 -- Work on the Strong City Auditorium began last week. Contract given to P. J. Norton.

     Nearly all the population of Matfield township is attending the Brandley trial at Emporia.

     Marriage: Mr. Thorn D. Brandley, Marshal of this city to Miss Jennie V. Rockhold of Strong City.

     Nick Sidener on Cedar Creek, is building himself a nice frame story- and- a half residence, 100 feet southwest of his present log house.

     N. E. Francis has completely transformed the old Birley place. He has also built a large blacksmith shop for his own convenience, and made a large addition to the house.

     N. T. Biege, south of Morgan, has sold his farm to a Mr. Lowman and left the county. Mr. Lowman has bought the Albert Bartlett house and will move it to his farm.

     John Heckendorn is building a large frame barn across the road from his residence in Wonsevu.

     A large barn on the Knox ranch on Diamond Creek, was destroyed by fire.

     The Blackshere boys of Elmdale put up more alfalfa hay each year than anyone else in the county. They say the Deering mower is the best kind.

     May 24, 1900 -- Harry Brandley acquitted at his trial in Emporia.

     Marriage License issued to; Brice M. Hays and Glennie Hays of Bazaar.

     Commencement exercises will be held in the Music Hall.

     J. J. Holmes has purchased a half interest in the Elmdale Reporter and the firm now is Garten & Holmes.

     May 31, 1900 -- The class of 1900 graduated eleven students, some of which are: Maude Ellen Strail, Olive Houghton, Wm. Francis Norton, and Edna M. Harris.

     The prizes for the greatest improvement in penmanship, in the 8th grade of the city school, were awarded to Francis Baldwin 1st., and Grace Lister, 2nd

     Jun. 7, 1900 -- A sure enought steam laundry is now in operation in this city.

     Born: Mr. & Mrs. S. R. J. Pickard, Clements, a daughter, the first.

     The long distance telephone wires have been put up in this county.

     W. T. Osman, a farmer merchant of Cedar Point, is now on the road selling.
