     Dec 28 1915 - Cupid has a busy Christmas concerning marriages; Arthur Deering & Grace C. Ludwig, Sylvester A. Mendenhall & Estella May Odle, & Wm. Ray Cunningham & Jennie Bell Drummond

     Dec 31 - Skating & sleighing are good for the first time this winter.

     Dr. S. N. Mallison will take possession of Dr Owen's office.

     Born to the F. 0. Prachts of Stribby creek, a baby girl.

     Jan 4 1916 - Anna Rogler, of this city, and Robert Mercer, of Matfield were united in marriage.

     Jan 7 Rettiger Bros. win big list of prizes for their apple growing at the Farm & Home week of the Kansas State Agricultural College.

     Jan 11 - A. W. Hegwer, of Elk, has a big corn production of 60-70 bushel per acre on forty acres of upland.

     Jan 18 - Mayor Albert Rogler gave the address at the Firemen's banquet, held at the Central Hotel.

     Kansas is to have a flag. It is to be an offical state flag to be used at all offical functions with the stars and stripes on state occasions.

     The ice harvest season opened here today. W. W. Harvey of Strong City expects to put up 1300 tons.

     Jan 25 - $25,000 fire at Elmdale. Destroys four buildings together with their contents.

     The Roniger Bros. have just bought the 80 acre farm from Ralph Payton.

     Feb 1 - Out of all the teachers in Chase County which number nearly 100, there is not one teacher her, holding a third grade certificate.

     Gabriel Studebaker died near Saffordville.

     Feb 4 - Silas Wheeler of East Buckeye was instantly killed by a Santa Fe passenger train at the Saffordville crossing.

     Ninety-three year old Mrs. Hanse Lind of Toledo and mother of nine children passed away. The family came to Kansas in May of 1872.

     Feb 11 - "Bobby" Brash is gone. He died at his home in Elmdale. He owned many acres of land on Middle creek. Mr. Brash never married.
