     Oct 24 1916 - Geo. W. Jackson, of this city, and the oldest of this county, will celebrate his 100th, birthday.

     Wm. Teat, of this city, has just been awarded the contract for the building of the new frame school house at Bazaar. The new building will be modern and will cost in the neighborhood of $4,000.

     Oct 27- Misfortune closely follows death. The Harry Brandley home burned to the ground while Mrs. Brandley and little son were attending the funeral of her husband.

     A fine baby daughter was born to Mr. & Mrs Alvin Stanbrough, just east of this city and to Mr. & Mrs Fred Smith of Hymer.

     Oscar Kallbert buys the Peter Hamilton farm just west of the city on Spring creek.

     Oct 31 - 2,500 people visit the Wm. Mercer new home. Barbecued beef, hog and mutton could be had, all free. Entertainment was a rodeo, band, races, etc. which were in full swing all day.

     Nov 3 - Levi Chandler of Bazaar and Miss Carrie Breese of this city are wed. Also Arthur Wyatt and Gertrude Layport.

     The Elmdale Methodist concluded to build a new house of worship. The amount aimed at is $8,000.

     Nov 10 - The friends of Mr. & Mrs Will Mercer presented them with two rocking chairs valued at forty dollars each in testimony of their high esteem.

     Nov 14 - Webster Martin of Bazaar and Lou Harlan of Matfield Green are wed and will reside on the farm at Bazaar.

     Have you seen the new Brandley school house? Come and see it, and stay for the box supper on Friday, Grace Bunch, Teacher.

     Nov 17- James McNee and Queen Campbell of this city were married in Newton.

     Capwell's Studio of Cottonwood Falls suggest that you have your Christmas photograph made early.

     Anyone wanting sewing done, inquire of Miss Louise Mauderly.

     Nov 21 - W. F. Fillmore was elected as one of the constables for Bazaar township and W. E. Martin was the second elected.

     Frank Hays of Bazaar has just purchased the R. H. Chandler property in Bazaar from Miss Mamie Chandler.

     Nov 24 - The seven room house of Harry Symes near Elk was completely destroyed by fire.

     Nov 28 - Charles I. Maule, an old soldier of the war of the Rebellion has died at Wichita. He came to Strong City in 1878 and engaged in the mercantile business until 1904.

     Chase County had another sucessfull Farmers Institute. Rettiger Bros. won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes for their apples, canned fruit, 1st. Mrs Geo. Miller, Night dress, 1st. Miss Nellie Whitcomb, and knitted mittens, 1st. , Mrs Arch Miller.

     12-1- Minnie Kellam & Henry Cahoone of this city were united in marriage.
