     May 8 1917 - Diamond creek and Middle creek valleys are cleaning up after the flood.

     Another canning club, the seventh, is established by the Thurman women and girls with thirty members and is one of the largest in the county.

     I. N. Lutt a young Cedar Point man turned in seventeen coyote scalps at the courthouse for his bounty.

     Graham H. Grimwood and Ruth W. Dwelle, both of Cedar Point are wed.

     May 11 - Mr. Pleasant Fagg who moved to Chase county in 1882, has died at Matfield Green.

     Joseph Hensler died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Dana Crawford, on Diamond creek. His death was due to cancer.

     May 18 - Katheryn Pinkston, daughter of Mr. & Mrs Levi Pinkston, of the Cedar Point neighborhood was united in marriage to Clarence Sharrai of Marion.

     May 22 - June 5th, date set for draft registration.

     Henry Schrumpf's farm home, south of this city, was completely destroyed by fire. Mr. Schrumpf plans to rebuild but for now the family is setting up house in a big tent.

     May 25 - County will build three new bridges.

     Miss Bessie Wood who owns a farm near Roy, New Mexico, which she homesteaded some years ago left for here homestead where she will go into farming on quite a large scale. Her brother Roy Wood owns land near Roy.

     Mr. Arch Miller, of this city, who has lived in Chase County since the year 1857 says that he does not remember of another May in all those years that have had more frosts than has occured during this month.

     Twenty year old Louis Dawson, son of Mr. & Mrs G. E. Dawson, Clements has died after a short ilness. Death due to pneumonia.

     May 29 - A baby daughter was born to Mr. & Mrs 0. L. May of Stribby creek.

     Jun 1 - Organized Red Cross Chapter of this city, Mrs Margaret Replogle was choosen a chairman.

     Jun 1 - Mrs Fredrick Yenzer, died due to heart failure. She has been a resident of Toledo practically all her life.

     Beginning this week the new law requiring preachers who perform marriage ceremonies to return the marriage license to the probate court in which they had been issued, went into effect.

     The Chase County National Bank received $5,000 of the Liberty Loan bonds in demominations of $50 which they will sell to those wanting to subscribe. They report the sale of $1,500 of the bonds already.

     Jun 5 - Guy Crook, of Saffordville, was quietly married to Grace Sedwick of Reading.

     Jun 12 - A few teachers for the next term are; Marble Hill, Maude Park, Prairie Grove, Carl Park, Homestead; Margaret Schwilling, Patton; Etta Schwilling, Ice; Lulu Cunningham, and Miller; C. A. Baldwin.

     Jun 15 - Grandma Stenzel suffered a stroke of paralysis and at the present time is in a very critical condition.

     Jun 19 - It is rumored that the operation of the Consolidated Street Railway which links this city with Strong City is to be suspended in the near future.
