     Nov 12, 1917 - A. J. Crocker, Uncle of E. G. & A. T. Crocker has died.

     Nov 20 - Ralph Bates, the second son of Mr. & Mrs J. M. Bates, of this city, who is now in Company C of the Gunner's Mates school the the U. S. Naval Training Station, Great Lakes

     Mrs Frank Johnson and children of Elmdale, have joined Dr. Johnson at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, where he is stationed at Camp Greenleaf and is a Captain in the U. S. Medical Corps.

     Nov 23 - The second U. S. Government draft will very likely be set in motion within the next few weeks.

     Nov 27 - After a residence of 46 years in this county, W. B. Wolfram who has been one of the oldest settlers of the Cahola vacinity is moving to Morris county about 10 miles northeast of Strong City.

     Nov 30 - The Chase County High School football team will play ball on Thanksgiving Day with Reno county High School of Nickerson. Come out and see Umbarger make some of his sensational plays.

     Mrs Wm. Stenzel of Stribby creek died last week. She grew to young womanhood in Chase county.

     Also Lew Bielman died at his home on the Guthrie Ranch on Peyton creek.

     Will G. Evans burial was held at the Miller cemetery. He was on the farm near Bazaar and spent all of his life in Chase county. He married Mae Landsberry in 1906. Death was due to typhoid fever.

     Dec 4 - Christmas boxes are being sent to the soldier boys.

     Lew Waddell is the local postmaster at the Falls.

     Mr. & Mrs Geo. Miller have a new baby daughter.

     Dec 14 - Mrs Michael Martin, living in Elmdale for many years died at her home at age 76.

     F. 0. Strong and Velvia M. Norris are united in marriage by Judge Coverdill. The couple will live in Cedar Point where the groom is engaged in running a dairy.

     Mary Brecht died at her home on Fox creek. She is survived by her husband Nicholas and four children.

     G. E. Melson & Bessie Sidener, both of Cedar township, were quietly married. The Melson farm will be their home.

     Thomas Mercer of this city buys the bottom farm of the Rockwood heirs north of the city. It comprises 572 acres of the best bottom ground on the Cottonwood river and sold for $150 per acre.

     Dec 18 - Mr. Chas. Harvey has resigned his position at the round house in Strong City and left for Newton.

     A "Housewarming" is held at the new J. D. Barrett home, east of this city.

     Dec 21 - Everett Waddell has been instantly killed on Middle creek while cutting down trees with George Britian. A large tree struck him on the head in its fall to the ground.

     Dec 25 - Miss Ophelia Romigh has purchased the large residence of Mr. A. J. Hiner and the land belonging to the place south of the road.

     Dec 28 - Mr. & Mrs Chas. Deering, of Homestead have been wed fifty years. There is only one day difference in their ages. Their children are: Mrs M. K. Harman, of this city, Mrs Thomas Sayre; of Cedar Point, F. F. Deering, Mrs I. M. Lutt, Mrs J. H. Harbour of Homestead, and C. C. Deering of Clements.
