     Jan 25 1918 - Mr. & Mrs Clyde Pretzer, of Elmdale, are the happy parents of a boy, named John Clyde.

     The turntable for the new motor street car was put in this week and the car is running regularly.

     A baby son was born to Mr. & Mrs Duke Park of Fox creek.

     Jan 29 - Phil Simmons has taken the agency for the Studebaker car in Chase county.

     Soldiers who wish to apply for government insurance must be made by men in the service October 15, 1917, before the 12th day of February 1918.

     Jan 29 - Another snowfall of four inches was the gift of the weather man to Chase county.

     Robert Matti died at his home on Bloody creek following a long illness.

     The coal shortage has affected none of the schools in Chase county so far.

     A skating party of young folks was enjoyed by all at Wonsevu.

     Charley Thompson of Homestead has been suffering with blood poisoning in his hand.

     Feb 1 - Henry Cahoone, who for the past five years has been clerking in the Waddell grocery store, purchased an interest in the store and will be in complete charge of the business.

     Save on your gasoline bill 20.7 cents a gallon at Overland Filling Station.

     Marriage: Albert Banks and Ruth Perkins, both of Matfield Green.

     Feb 5 - John Scribner, formerly of Saffordville is now a member of an engineering corps stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

     Dr. W.S. Billingslea, of Clements, died in Kansas City. He had been engaged in the practice of medicine at Matfield Green, then he and his family moved to Clements about four years ago, where he practiced and ran a drug store.

     Feb 8 - Mr. & Mrs N. E. Sidener, pioneer residents of Chase county celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

     Estella Baker, of Cedar Point and John Potter, of Clements, were united in marriage. They will make their home on the same farm with John's father.

     Geo. W. Jackson, 83 died at Matfield Green. He was married to Matilda Walker in 1856 and they had 10 children.

     The Pierce twins of Stribby creek are the proud owners of a collie pup.

     Feb 12 - German aliens must register. The local postmasters will have the registration.

     Emma Rollins, wife of W. W. Rollins, 5 miles east of this city, died at her home. Her death was due to pneumonia. She was about 63 years old.

     Feb 15 - The commissions appointed Dr. Woodhull and Titus as health officers at the salary of $100 per year.

     J.C.F. Kirk, who will build a fine modern bungalow began breaking ground this week.
