     July 26, 1900 -- Death of Samuel Grant Johnson.


     Aug. 2, 1900 -- Eight free non-political lectures will be delivered by H. G. Frase in this county, under the auspices of the State Temperance Union.


     The Cottonwood Falls Creamery Co. was organized and the following were elected as directors: J. B. Smith, M. T. Hildinger, E. B. Johnston, H. F. Gillett, and E. D. Replogle.


     Only eight school districts in Chase Co. are now carrying a bonded debt.


     Marriages; Hiram McDowell & Annie Cunningham, Noah F. Parks & Marie E. Barnabee, and A. E. Myers & Nellie Jennings.


     Toledo Township Sunday School Convention held in Saffordville, President, P. H. Lind, Secretary, Tracy Stone and Treasurer, Minnie M. Myser.


     Aug. 9, 1900 -- Death; J. A. Harris of Toledo.


     Geo. W. Buffon has added to his improvements, a new barn.


     P.L. Condra, Adm. made final settlement on the estate of Samuel Beverlin.


     Pat Mushrush & Co., Matfield will erect one of the most modern makes in the form of a merry-go-round.


     Fred Kerr is building a neat residence in Grandview.


     Born; a son, to Mr. & Mrs Frank Lee of South Fork.


     The fair grounds, 33 acres, were sold at sheriff's sale, to Will Rockwood, for $525.


     The stone work on M. H. Lewis' greenhouse is receiving favorable comments, Jerry Perry of Saffordville is doing the work.


     Aug. 16, 1900 -- Republican primary at the courthouse tonight.


     The Old Settlers Reunion will be held Sept. 28 & 29.


     W. G. Giese has a blacksmith shop, this city with a new stone sidewalk laid out front.


     Marriage license issued to; Bamford Fox of Wonsevu & Arrila Watson of Clements


     Dr. A. M. Conaway of Saffordville is suprised on his 71st birthday by friends and neighbors.


     Running for County Superintendent, H. A. Rose, T. G. Allen, for County Attorney G. W. Stephenson.


     Teachers employed are; Thurman, Nellie Crumer, Coyne Valley, H. A. Dwelle, Brandley, Ruby Brandley, & Homestead, Leroy Pendergraft.
