     Jun 14 1918 - The city marshals' salary is uped to $50 per month at the city council proceedings.

     It is likely that Mr. & Mrs Buffington are the only parents in Chase county who at present have three sons somewhere in France, Walter, Charles and Harry are all over there.

     Jun 24 - A real war wedding of Frank Brown and Georgia Houston took place in Junction City. Both are from Cottonwood Falls.

     Jun 28 - Hereafter the Waddell Grocery Co. store will be known as the store of Henry Cahoone. He and his able bodied wife will be in complete charge.

     Jul 1 - Reward of $50 will be paid by June B. Smith, Sheriff for information leading to the discovery of the parties who shot and killed Wm. Daub's bull in his pasture on the Santa Fe Trail near Yowl creek.

     Meat and sugar are placed on the restricted list according to County Food Administrator, Albert Rogler.

     Willard Green of Bazaar is united in marriage to Zula Bennington of Colorado. They will make their home on the Green farm at Bazaar.

     Jul 3 - Frank Miser, a pioneer resident of Chase and Morris counties, died at his home on Diamond creek. Only a few weeks ago occurred the death of his son Sam Miser who lived at Bazaar.

     Jul 5 - Preston Hale and Anna Yeager are married in Iola, Ks.

     Charles Johnson passed away at his home near Matfield Green.

     A thirteen-year-old Chase county boy, Wayne Rogler of Matfield Green, is the winner in the boys state baby beef contest this year. The baby beef was a year old whiteface heifer of purebred stock. Four other boys won prizes, one being Newton Griffith of Cedar Point.

     W. 0. Thurston of the Elmdale vicinity dies after a long illness. W.O. was a long time farmer in Chase county for 32 years.

     Jul 8 - John Drinkwater of Cedar Point was gassed on May 28th, but is recovering nicely according to his mother. John is in Battery B. 150 Field Artillery.

     Jul 12 - The Barnum & Bailey circus is coming to Emporia. The greatest show on earth, it is announced.

     Irving Myers has arrived safely with his Co. D, of the 353 Infantry of the 89th., Division in France.

     Jul 15 - The children of Mr. & Mrs Arch Miller will give a reception in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of their parents at the home of Mr. & Mrs W. S. Miller east of this city on July 23rd.

     Chase county paid no inheritance tax during this past year.

     Probate Judge Coverdill and Mrs Coverdill, probate judge pro tem, have recently completed the indexing and proper classification of all records in that office from the year 1860 to 1908.

     A fine baby boy was born to Mr. & Mrs Geo. Whitcomb of Cedar creek.

     S. H. Baker put up a windmill for L. Wagoner of Thurman.

     7-19- An election will be held at a special meeting of voters at Elmdale for the purpose of electing a Rural High School School Board, which will consist of a director, clerk, and treasurer.
