     Mar 17 1919 - Mrs W. T. Glanville who had suffered for months has died from cancer. Sarah was the oldest daughter of Mr. & Mrs James Austin and was born at the Austin home, two miles east of Cottonwood Falls in 1875. Mrs Glanville leaves her husband, a 12 year old daughter, Evangeline, and a 8 year old son, Willie.

     Mar 28 - Prairie hay reached the record price of $40 per ton in Kansas City.

     Mar 31 - John Short buys the McDowell-Harman lumber yard in this city.

     Percy Edmonds of Hymer, has just opened a lumber yard there.

     Apr 4 - Many Chase county boys are returning home from the war, Ernest Matti, Wm. M. Knapp, Bert Allen, Wm. Brown, and Clarence McCandless.

     Apr 7 - Wm. Ryan, has died. He come to Chase county in 1873 and was foreman for Jim Rybourn on the Santa Fe bridge work and also was foreman a number of years for B. Lantry. He died in Canada.

     The Chase County National Bank has just completed the decorating and furnishing of their directors' room and now have the finest furnished rooms in the city.

     Apr 11 - Dedication of the new Methodist church will be held soon at Elmdale. The cost of the church was about $15,000.

     Julia McCabe Cook of Wichita has passed away. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Bernard McCabe of Bazaar.

     Helen Burnett of Hymer and Sidney B. Repogle are wed. They were both raised in this county and have spent practically all of their lives here.

     Apr 14 - The new Santa Fe Trail which is very soon to become a hard surface highway has just been placed on the blue print map of the Associated Highways of America.

     Apr 18 - A quiet home wedding united John Scribner, of Saffordville and Gertrude Howard, of this place. Their home will be in Saffordville where Mr. Scribner is in business.

     Apr 23 - Farmers want day-light-savings law revoked.

     Mrs David Biggam of Strong City, has died at the Axtell Hospital. She is survived by two sons, David and Joe.

     Apr 28 - Chas. Deering, one of the oldest residents of the Homestead Community died at his home.

     Margaret L. Wood, wife of the late Sam Wood of Cottonwood Falls has died at the home of her son, W. L. Wood. She will be laid next to Sam in the family plot at Prairie Grove.

     May 2 - The Star Route to Bazaar is to be re-established according to the Postal Department.

     Earl Pretzer of Elmdale, and Frances Coverdill of this city are wed by the Rev. H. B. Mayo.

     A half dozen or more motor cars filled with gypsies made the first appearance of the season here, one of the surest signs of spring.

     May 5 - Clifford the nine-year-old son of Mr. & Mrs Chas. Caress of Homestead has died of diptheria.
