     Aug 15 1919 - Dudley Doolittle returns from Italy and says he is glad to get home and he has declined several tempting offers to remain in Washington, D. C.

     Aug 20 - J. M. Bates who owns the park north of the river near this city is preparing to accommodate outing and picnic parties who desire a fine, cool place to camp and will make reasonable terms.

     Aug 22 - J. R. Blackshere of Elmdale, is completing extensive improvements on his residence.

     Henry C. O'Reilly of Strong City, now acting deputy county attorney during the absence of Judge Meckel, was appointed census supervisor for the Fourth Kansas Congressional District, by Secretary of Commerce Redfield.

     Aug 25 - Mr. & Mrs Lee Byram of the Cedar Point vacinity, are the parents of a daughter.

     Aug 29 - The Agricultural course offered at the Chase County High School at present is a one year course and fills the state requirements for a High School such as ours. The Normal Training Students are required to take this course and the enrollment is mostly girls.

     The Lower Fox creek school house District 14, was destroyed by fire as the result of being struck by lightning. It was of stone and one of the oldest school buildings in the county. W. J. Daugherty of this city, was one of the men who built it.

     Sep 1 - Mr. & Mrs R. K. Maybell left the Falls for their future home in Nebraska.

     Sep 3 - The election on the County High School bond issue for Cottonwood Falls resulted in a defeat, by about four hundred votes.

     Judd Stewart of Elmdale sold his restaurant to G. M. Lutz.

     Dee Hoel has purchased the Mann garage building on the corner of Broadway and Main, and will make a number of improvements.

     Sep 5 - Names of some of the teachers employed for the next term are: Elmdale, Hallie Park and Maggie Jeffrey; Clements, Olive Cope and Inez Park; Bazaar, Mae Blackburn; Norton, Lilly Buffington; Forest Hill, Grace Selves.

     Sep 8 - Ex-service men of Chase county organized an American Legion post here to be called Claude Newlee Post named in honor of the first Chase county soldier to fall in the world war.

     Ex-service men will have a free pass to the Kansas State Fair.

     The oil men around Cedar Point are getting excited again. They are expecting to hear something good soon.
