Oct 3 1919 - Mr. & Mrs John Mann, Jr. are the parents of a son. This is the third son for the Mann's.
Workman started on the removal of the turn-table at the end of the Consolidated Street Railway Company's line.
Oct 6 - Lee McCabe of Bazaar, has purchased the stock and business of Chandler and Hays at Bazaar. Mr. McCabe will take possession at once and will be in charge of the store.
Kansas is growing in population.
Oct 10 - There is no more "free school land" in Kansas.
Oct 17 - Emma Bailey Wood has passed away. She came to Chase county at the age of 14, married C. D. Wood of Elmdale in 1886.
Oct 20 - Mr. and Mrs 0. M. Rumford of Saffordville are the proud parents of a baby boy.
Oct 22 - Mrs John S. Loomis died at her home on Upper Diamond creek. She has lived at the old homestead, which for nearly half a century, has been one of the pioneers landmarks.
The Lower Fox creek schoolhouse which burned down a couple of months ago is being rebuilt now. It should be completed within a few weeks. This is School District No. 14.
Oct 24 - The marriage of Wm. A. Stone of Saffordville and Gladys M. Hankins, of Reading is held in Lyon County.
Oct 27 - J. W. Haughey, of Topeka, has bought the old Commerical Hotel on Broadway street, which was partly destroyed by fire last year. He will have it torn down and use the lumber on his farm. This will remove the last of the oldest landmarks of this city.
The pupils of the Cottonwood Falls City School are publishing a monthly school paper, which they have named "The School News".
The Russell Blackburn post of the American Legion of Strong City is the second American Legion Post in Chase County to be granted a charter.
Oct 29 - A pie supper will be held at the New Hope schoolhouse.
Oct 31 - Duck shooting has been very good in this county during the past few days.
Nov 3 - There are twenty-five civil cases and one criminal case on the November docket.
Nov 5 - Arthur Harlan, oldest son of Mr. & Mrs W. T. Harlan of Bazaar, was married to Minnie Anderson of ElDorado.
Cecil Kuhl is making many improvements in his drug store in this city.
Nov 7 - Newton Griffith passed away at his home in Florence. He had lived in Chase County from 1879 until 1900.
Frank Frey, pioneer resident of this county, died at his home north of Elk. He is survived by one son, L. J. Frey.
Nov 14 - The street lighting bill, due W. W. Austin from the city amounts to $91.50.
