     JUL 28 1920 - Mrs Frank Crawford of Clements is probably the only woman in this part of the state who runs a threshing machine engine of an outfit.


     Jul 30 - Eleven Cottonwood Falls Camp Fire Girls with their guardians, Mrs Maude T. Breese and Miss Mattie Kirk, went on a camping expedition and spent their first night in a straw stack.


     Harry Hays and Ethel Evans are married at Emporia, which comes as a surprise to most people.


     Aug 2 - Ad - Showing at the Elm Airdome Friday and Saturday, Aug. 6th. and 7th. In Old Kentucky, featuring Anita Stewart. W. M. Ellis, Elm Airdome Manager.


     Aug 4 - A destructive electrical storm hits Chase County over a dozen head of big steers killed and some horses.


     Cedar Point will hold a three day Chautauqua Aug. 20, 21, & 22.


     Aug 6 - Predict coal prices higher this winter, due to new freight rates.


     Nearly 1,000 auto licenses applied for in July.


     Isla Hull and Bruce Swift were married in Emporia.


     Aug 9 - Some teachers for the coming year; Union: Alvin Loney, Cottonwood Falls; Alma Hoag, Crocker; Opal Gaddie, East Buckeye; Howard Stone, Saffordville; Florence Obley, Strong City; B. Anna Quinn, Marble Hill; Maud Park and Homestead; Nelle Gurney.


     The big Chautauqua tent came in and is being erected on the southeast corner of the high school campus.


     Aug 11 - The cost of-the recent Primary election in Chase County is 87 cents per vote, according to the County Clerk, C. A. Coe.


     A number of young folks from Matfield Green are enjoying themselves swimming in the big water tank at the Rogler well.


     Leonard Jones is the proud father of a baby girl.


     And A. T. Stone is papa again, a boy this time, all of the Saffordville area.


     Aug 13 - The remains of Cecil R. Parks, who died overseas during the late World War, are now on their way to this country and should arrive in New York on the 15th.


     ' John Bray is the stockyard foreman at Bazaar for the Santa Fe this year and he seems to be shipping a lot of sand.


     Grasshoppers in the county are doing much damage in some localities.


     Aug 18 - New stetsons at Gregory Bros. for $8, 10, and 12.


     Jim Mailen has purchased the business and stock in the Evans cafe on the west side of Broadway south of the Cahoone grocery.


     Aug 23 - Laura Penny and Edwin Titus of this city are wed.


     A dance will be held in the Strong City Auditorium Thursday. Stancliss Orchestra. Adm. $1.25.


     Miss Effie Cahoone is taking a course in nursing at the Bethany Hospital in Kansas City.
