     1920


     Aug 25 1920 - The Trustees of the County High School expect to erect a manual training building on the High School campus in the near future. The stone building on Broadway where the manual training work has been done was sold, so other quarters are needed.


     Sep 8 - Jessie Olive Cope and Paul B. Wood are united in holy wedlock at the home of Mr. & Mrs J. W. Cope of Clements.


     The Cottonwood Falls city school opened with an enrollment of 196 pupils.


     Sep 20 - The Chase County High School football team beat Burns by a walloping 45 to 0.


     Sep 22 - The Chase County census shows 7,144 living in the county in 1920. In 1900 there were 8, 246, so we are declining in population.


     Mr. Lew Becker of Prairie Hill has purchased a new corn binder of the Alford Hardware of this city.


     Sep 24 - Bumper corn crop causing market to slump.


     Many high school students are taking advantage of the hot lunches which are now served at the high school at noon. The meals are gotten up under the supervision of the domestic science department.


     Owing to poor health Miss Nora Goad resigned her position as primary teacher in the Hymer school.


     A Farmers Union Store will open soon at Strong City. It will be located in the Fuller building.


     Sep 29 - A contract for the erecting of a manual training and agricultural building for the Chase County High School to Bert C. Overton of Miami, Okla.


     Oct 1 - Mr. & Mrs Drew Narramore of Elmdale, are the parents of a baby son.


     Oct 4 - Mildred Pyles and Archie King both of Elmdale are wed.


     Carl Park is a candidate for Register of Deeds on the Democratic ticket.


     Oct 6 - The C. A. Sayre public auction is to be held Oct. 12th. Mr. Sayre has rented his farm and is moving.


     Oct 8 - Workmen are putting in the plumbing in the courthouse this week for a wash basin and drinking fountain.


     Oct 11 - Esther Miller and W. Clarence Beardmore both of Elmdale are united in marriage.


     Nov 13 - The high school at Cottonwood Falls will have a five lecture course.


     Fine roast beef at only 25 cents per pound - The Woodring Meat Market.


     Oct 15 - Henry Williams and family of Cedar Point are having a sale and will move to Manhattan.


     Oct 25 - 1st. prize of $10.00 went to Elizabeth Childs in the baby contest at the Middle creek fair. Elizabeth is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs Chauncey Childs of Elmdale. There were twenty-seven entries.


     Nov 1 - The Chase County High School football team has won every game this season but one.
