     1921

     Jan. 5. 1921 - A big chicken supper was given at the Methodist Church for the new members.

     The Christmas tree program given at the Strong City Auditorium by the Catholics of St. Anthony church was an unusually pretty affair.

     Jan. 7 - Alice Carrol Prather, fourth child of Homer L. and Katheryn Baker Prather passed away after a deal of suffering. She was only thirteen years old.

     Nicholas Gosler of Matfield Green died at his home. His death came very sudden, cancer of the stomach is said to he the cause. He was cashier of the Matfield State Bank.

     Jan. 10 - Sadie Myser lost her home by a fire at Toledo.

     Dressed hogs at only 13 and 14 cents per pound at Woodring Meat Market.

     Jan. 12 — Mr. & Mrs Leo Johnson are the proud parents of a baby girl, named Martha Lucile.

     The new street lights are being set now on Broadway.

     The first real snow came and put a stop to the paving on Broadway.

     Jan. 14 — The planting of shade trees is being done along the new Santa Fe Trail.

     Harvey Osborn is doing some good work of clearing the streets about the Falls.

     Jan. 17 - At the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion convention held in Newton, a Chapter of the Order of Gold Star was formed.

     Jan. 19 - Mrs P. D. Montgomery formerly of Cedar Point has passed away.

     Jan. 21 - The Paul Stubenhofer’s of Neva have a new eight pound baby boy.

     Bessie Pinkston 16, and Clarence McCracken 22, both of Bazaar are wed. They will make Bazaar their home.

     Jan. 24 - Floyd Gardner who works as signal man at the tower at Elinor, for the Santa Fe was found unconscious at his post. He later recovered.

     Ice men say there may be no natural ice this winter due to the warm weather.

     Jan. 26 — Buglars blew open the Matfield Green bank safe but failed to get the time lock open.

     Mr. & Mrs David Daub west of the city have a new nine pound baby boy.

     Jan. 28 - Public farm sale of Cal Pendergraft of South Fork, who is moving to town.

     Jan. 31 - Harlan Young, well known section boss for the Santa Fe, of Hymer, hung himself in the cellar of his home. He was about 54 years of age.

     Mary Payton and Robert North are wed. Also Leila McNee and David Hilton, Jr.
