     March 25, 1921 - School teachers may feel a slump in wages.

     Santa Fe is laying off more employees.

     Lillian L. Buffington and Harry Loney are united in marriage.

     An interesting carnival by the Chase County High School is being planned.

     Mar. 28 - Higher auto license tax brings in greater revenue.

     Old man winter gets fruit crop.

     Mar. 30 - Quite a number of the seven month school districts have closed for this term.

     Apr. 4 - Potter Brothers who rented the L. R. Willey ranch on Middle creek, are moving there from Clements.

     Apr. 6 - Mr. & Mrs Matt Pennington of Strong City, are the proud parents of a baby daughter. Mr. Pennington works for the Santa Fe.

     Also a brand new baby boy is born at the E. B. Whitney abode at Hymer.

     Apr. 8 - Strong City holds a fund raiser for the Boys Band.

     Apr. 11 - W. H. Triplett of Elmdale, has passed away. He was in his 80th year and came to Chase County in the “seventies”.

     Apr. 13 - Lloyd Rogler spent the week-end from college with his parents, Mr. & Mrs Albert Rogler.

     County Engineer Hageman reports the county crusher has been working crushing rock for the repair of roads from Hymer to Fox creek.

     Apr 15 - Santa Fe is holding a meeting in Topeka for the purpose of discussing the proposed 20 cent cut in wages of all Santa Fe employees.

     J. B. Smith has purchased the business building from Wm. Norton on the west side of Broadway. It will be remodeled and used as a billard hall run by George Dunkin.

     Robert Frew is preparing to open a cream station in the Woodring Meat Market.

     Chas. Sayre is making some improvements on Lake Tahoe. He is putting a concrete retaining wall on two sides of the lake and is repainting his camp houses for the opening of the lake before summer season.

     Apr 18 - Homer Albin is shearing sheep for George Brickell in the Canaan vicinity.

     Dance - Clements American Legion at the Farmers Union Hall — Plenty of Jazz music.

     Apr 20 - Jim Mailen’s cafe is to give day and night service to the public.

     County Superintendent Elect - Clint Baldwin will take his seat on May 9th.

     Apr 22 - The Chase County Leader is 50 years old.

     The attraction at the Lyric Theatre at Strong City will be Charlie Chaplin in “The Kid.”

     Waste oil from Marion county oil fields kills many fish in the Cottonwood river.
