     1921

     Jul 13 1921 - The county high school board placed the levi. at 1.8 mills.

     Jul 15 - Twelve inch tile has been placed all around the eleven acres included in the track at the fair grounds. Also several loads of lumber and fencing has been purchased from the Middle Creek Fair Assoc.

     Jul 20 - Wm. Shaft, known to practially everyone in the Clements neighborhood, and called "Uncle Bill" by everyone, died at the hospital in Newton. He was 83 years old.

     Harold Blackshere has been chosen as superintendent of horse racing; E. R. Beedle, superintdent of draft horses; Frank Yeager, manager of cattle exhibits; and Sidney Reploge, charge of hog exhibits. They are all ready for the four day fair to be held in October.

     A baritone solo by James Bell is included in the program on concert night. He will sing "Tripoli”.

     Adam Giese, one of the oldest residents of Strong City, died at his home. He was the father of eleven children, all living.

     Rachel Wood and Arthur Owens of Kentucky, were married under a big elm tree of the old Wood home near Elmdale.

     Zackariah Campbell, one of the few last Civil war veterans of the community died at his home.

     7-25 - J. W. McKittrick of Wonsevu, was instantly killed when the Ford which he was driving turned over into a ditch.

     Bazaar has a tennis court, and croquet ground, swings for the children, a place for amusement for the young and old.

     Jul 27 - Buy them by the pound - Green Arrow Soap Chips - Special price 20 cents at Smith Bros.

     Jul 29 - The associated Mill and Elevator Company of Kansas City which was to have built elevators at Bazaar and Elmdale has gone into the hands of a receiver.

     Aug 2 - Merchants of this city are selling Chautauqua tickets for the twelve performances; cost $2.50 for adults and $1.25 for children.

     Aug 5 - The tax levy for this city for 1921 was set at 17 mills on the dollar at the City Council meeting.

     Aug 12 - “The Chase”, the 1921 annual of the Chase County High School has just arrived.

     A fine baby girl arrived at the Karl Bennett’s.

     Aug 16 - Prices for board and room to out-of-town students will average from $24 to $28 per month.

     Aug 19 - Mrs Glennie Hays dies at Carlsbad, N. M. She has gone there for her health last June. She leaves a daughter, Mildred, 14 years old. Mr. Hays has been dead for many years.

     First round of tennis tournament is being played off every afternoon at Strong City.
