     Jan 3 1922 - A. W. Ryan has just closed a deal for the sale of the business and buildings of the Ryan Hotel in Strong City to Martin Anderson of Hope, Kansas.

     Jan 6 - Dryest of thirteen years, was 1921.

     Jan 13 - Beverly Grace Beedle, eight month old dauther of Mr. & Mrs Roy Beedle southeast of this city has died after a short illness.

     Olive Wilcox and J. C. Springer are wed on New Year’s Day.

     Jan 17 - E. W. Jeffrey of Elmdale died at the Newton Hospital, a victim of blood poisoning.

     Jan 20 - Edna Flueler and Elmer Sayre are wed.

     Jan 24 - The Chase County Fair Assocation decided to purchase the 37 acres of land from C. A. Cowley and Geo. A. McNee, owners of the land. The contract provides for five years in which to pay for it.

     Jan 27 - Mr. & Mrs Ed Patton of the Pleasant Valley vicinity have a new baby girl.

     Jan 31 - Robert Russell and Orea E. Maddox both of Bazaar, are wed by Judge, T. G. Allen.

     Feb 3 - David McKee, President of the Matfield Green Bank died at his home in Matfield Green.

     Feb 10 - Ferguson Dwelle who lives about two miles south of Cedar Point and who is one of the earlier settlers of Chase County died at his home.

     Feb 17 - Another of Chase County’s Grand Old Men has passed away. Mr. Arch Miller having came to Chase County in 1857. Of Scotch-Irish descent he was industrious and thrifty. Mr. Miller had a gift as a story teller. He was over 88 years old. He married Mary McNee in 1868.

     Margaret Maxwell Drummond of Diamond creek and Carl 0. Barr, of Diamond Springs were married at the home of the bride’s mother. They will farm on Diamond Springs.

     Feb 24 - Mr. & Mrs George Miller who live east of this city announces the arrival of a nine pound girl. Mr. Miller says he is sorry she isn’t a boy but they will call her George anyway.

     The oldest established business in Chase County that has at all times been under the personal direction of one man is sold. Fifty years ago P. C. Jeffery started in the business in Elmdale. The new firm will be known as the Elmdale Mercantile Company. The proprietors are Arthur N. Heckendorn and Drew M. Narramore.

     Feb28 - Hank Cahoone has sold his grocery store to Newton Crosby of Catlin, Illinois.

     Feb 28 - John Miller is appointed as Administrator of the Estate of Archibald Miller.

     Mar 3 - Glen Whitlock has sold his shoe shop to Howard Parks of Cedar Point.

     A. J. McCabe has begun the basement for the house he will build on his farm east of the Buffington farm on South Fork.

     Mrs Sidney Cahoone of Clements, announce the birth of a son, Riley Crawford Cahoone, weight, 9˝ pounds.
