     1922


     Mar 7 1922 - Mrs W. W. Sanders has passed away. Mrs Sanders came to Kansas in 1871. She and Mr. Sanders have lived in the same block for 50 years.


     Mar 10 - Bazaar-ElDorado line is a sure thing.


     Mar 24 - The Lyon County Hospital at Emporia was opened on March 5th.


     Mar 28 - Wm. Forney died at the National Soliders home at Leavenworth. Mr. Forney learned the blacksmith trade when he was seventeen and worked at his trade until he retired.


     Apr 4 - Peter Lind of Saffordville passed away. Mr. Lind was one of the solid men of the county. He was eight years old when he came to this county. He was 58 at his passing.


     Apr 7 - A father-son banquet will be held in the basement of the Methodist church.


     Mrs Cornelia Giger passed away at Cottonwood Falls after a lingering illness. She married Harvey M. Giger in 1882 and they farmed near Elmdale.


     Apr 11 - No more bounty on gophers.


     Apr 14 - Born to Mr. & Mrs Martin Ludwig a 10½ pound boy. This is their third child and are all boys.


     The Santa Fe is building a new stock yard at Hymer.


     Apr 18 - Matt Bledsoe, who was well known in Strong City died at the home of his son, Arthur in Strong City.


     Apr 21 - C. H. Nowell and Dora Ice are wed.


     Apr 25 - Ruth Miller, daughter of Mr. & Mrs John Miller, who live east of this city, has been chosen as Queen of the May Fete at the University of Kansas.


     Most stores in Cottonwood Falls will close for the track meet in the pm.


     May 5 - Andrew Drummond died from stomach cancer. He was never married.


     May 9 - Born to Mr. & Mrs Floyd Trussell, a daughter. She has been given the name, Betty Jane.


     May 12 - Forty graduate from Chase County High School. Ruth Whitcomb is valedictorian.


     May 16 - The Odeon will close in Cottonwood Falls.


     May 26 - The big barn at the Prather Ranch west of Elmdale was completely destroyed by fire.


     Jun 2 - Russel Park, eight year old son of Mr. & Mrs James Park of Elmdale died at the Axtell Hospital in Newton. Death was due to sleeping sickness.


     Mr. & Mrs Clyde Underwood of Matfield Green are the happy parents of a baby daughter, named Elaine.


     Jun 9 - Mrs Robert P. North departed this life at the home of her son, Clarence P. North of Bazaar.


     Jun 13 - Ed Forney once more hangs out his single bearing the words "Blacksmithing and Horseshoeing" . After eight years out of the business he’s back and ready for business.
