     1922 - 1923

     Oct 31 1922 - Chet Woodring installs new meat market equipment in west side meat market, next to Brandley’s Jewelry Store.

     Earl Yeager, second son of Mr. & Mrs F. H. Yeager of Bazaar died at his home after an illness of three weeks. Earl was eleven years old and a member of the seventh grade at Bazaar school.

     Nov 7 - Mr. W. C. Rettiger died at his home in Temple, Texas. Mr. Rettiger was taken in the prime of life, being a little under 48. He was educated in the schools of Strong City. He married Goldie Fogarty in Strong City in 1901. He leaves his wife and five children to mourn him.

     Nov 10 - Early morning fire of unknown origin gets Dye’s Meat Market and the Woodring-King building.

     Nov 28 - Miss Lena Spear and Mr. Charley Fear were married.

     Dec 1 - A son was born to Mr. & Mrs Harve Nelson of Saffordville.

     Dec 8 - Mrs Bessie Brennan has been named by President Harding as postmistress at Strong City.

     A nine and one-half pound son was born to Mr. & Mrs Henry ImMasche of Saffordville.

     Dec 15 - Elect new directors of the Chase Co. Fair Assoc. and they are; H. M. Blackshere, Alex Harbison, Roy Campbell, Ed Maloney, Albert Rogler, John Lind, Court Benninghoven, Will Miller and Preston Hale.

     Dec 19 - Charles “Chuck” Howard was elected Captain of the 1923 Chase County High football team.

     Wilis Thompson and Julia Guyton both of Diamond Creek were married.

     Dec 29 - Physicians here report no new cases of Diphtheria for the last ten days.

     Margaret Fillmore daughter of Effie Fillmore and Harry Pendergraft were united in marriage.

     Jan 5 1923 - Miss Maud Crouch and Ira F. Pyle were married in Council Grove. Jan 9 - The high school carnival will be held soon.

     Wm. Shaft, Jr., a prominent farmers of near Clements was found dead in a rock quarry about one hundred yards from his house.

     Jan 16 - Presbyterian church improvements nearly completed.

     Jan 19 - Cottonwood Falls will have its own waterworks as soon as a pumping plant can be installed.

     Jan 23 - Frank Stewart of Saffordville died at his home just south of town.

     Jan 30 - Martin Dry Goods Co. is robbed of about $2,000 worth of silks and silk hose.

     Feb 2 - Thomas G. Vinson has passed away.

     Ross Hager just completed a large 8 room house and bath for George McNee on his farm west of Elmdale. He will resume work on the Frank Bell house east of Cottonwood.

     Feb 6 - Mr. Jacob Wambsganss Sr. died at his home near Elk. He leaves a wife, three sons and seven daughters.
